$15.86/hour to $18.34/hour
Primary Objectives of Position:
To coordinate the local Youthbuild and WIA Youth program activities including supervision and instruction of youth in construction methods and safety practices. Coordination with academic instruction for high school and/or GED completion.
Required Qualifications:
Vocationally certified instructor in construction related field or demonstrated experience in construction. Ability to work with young people who have not completed high school. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer literate: must be able to use Microsoft applications, internet for accessing information and e-mail. Ability to relate to youth in individual and group activities. Must work effectively in team-structured delivery system. Must provide own dependable transportation and be able to travel to complete job duties. No prior history of client abuse.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in education, counseling or construction related field or a combination of a related degree with appropriate experience. Exceptional written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills. Group facilitation and motivational skills. Persons who are veterans or possess the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) will be given additional consideration.
Essential Functions:
1. Implement program activities intended to carry out youth services.
2. Coordinate a variety of projects to meet ongoing deadlines.
3. Contact schools and work sites to facilitate coordination of services and communication about youth services.
4. Network within the community to foster program partnership to achieve goals.
5. Provide direct instruction and supervision to youth on construction worksites.
6. Meet with participants, individually or in group to provide program information and direction.
7. Assist participants to develop individual service strategies for goal identification and attainment.
8. Acts as liaison between schools and work sites and team to resolve service related issues.
9. Maintain contact with participants to monitor participation, goal attainment and determine unmet needs.
10. Attain or exceed prescribed performance standards on a monthly basis.
11. Maintain documentation of client contacts and progress related to their individual plans.
